NAPAD PROGRAMME

LIVELIHOODS AND RESILIENCE

OVERVIEW:

NAPAD through its interventions seeks to break the cycle of poverty among vulnerable and marginalized communities by strengthening their ability to produce more food and fodder and diversify their incomes.

IMPACT:

  • Over 90 hectares of new farmland put under solar-powered irrigation with different crops; maize, sorghum, sudan grass, cowpeas tomatoes and onions.
  • Approximately 233,250 livestock accessed adequate water in Gedo and Galgadud Regions in Somalia through the installation of Solar Pumps and rehabilitation of shallow wells
  • 1750 farmers were supported to improve food production through the establishment of solar-powered irrigation systems , training and provision of farm inputs
